Kirk, Rush Issue Joint Statement Following Englewood Tour
CHICAGO – U.S. Senator Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) and Congressman Bobby Rush (D-Ill.) today issued the following statement after touring the Englewood neighborhood and discussing ways to reduce gang violence in Chicago:
"Chicago has a serious violence problem and we are united in our efforts to solve it. While we may not agree on every idea, we both know that any law enforcement strategy needs effective community-based programs and economic growth plans to succeed. We are united in our efforts to save lives and stop the violence, and we will continue to work together until we succeed."
Senator Kirk and Congressman Rush toured the Englewood community and visited with families of gun violence victims, community organizations, leaders and neighborhood youth.
